Christmas is right around the corner! Soon there will be chilly days and maybe even snow! Before you know it Thanksgiving will have come and gone and Christmas will be upon us! It’s never too early to get started on those Christmas DIY projects.
This is an easy way to add a big splash of seasonal color!
- Red and white Deco Mesh
- Assorted ribbon
- Chenille stems
- 10 x 13 picture frame with backing and glass removed
- Christmas decor
- Glue Gun
I purchased all of my supplies from the Dollar Tree. They have a wonderful selection of craft supplies each season and you can’t beat the price! With all the supplies I spent less than $15.00 and had material left over to use on other projects!
To begin I estimated that I would need 22 bundles to cover my picture frame. That will be 6 bundles across the top and bottom and 5 on each side. I like my wreath to be very full and you could easily reduce this number depending on the fullness you wanted.
I then cut all my ribbon at 5 inches and dove tailed the ends. I then cut my mesh at 6 inches. You can customize this wreath so many ways! You can use more ribbon and leave off the mesh and it creates a totally different look. You can also do the reverse and leave off the ribbon and use all mesh! It is all up to you and what you like!
To assemble my bundles I took 4 pieces of ribbon and 3 pieces of mesh, added a chenille stem and twisted it into a bundle. I use a Bowdabra bow maker to hold my ribbons and mesh. I then attached them to the picture frame using the chenille stem.
When all my bundles were placed on the frame I added the sign. I used the pre-existing holes in the sign to secure it to the frame with 2 chenille stems. You could also attach it with hot glue on the back of the sign. I used the chenille stems so that the sign could be removed after the holiday and reused.
I finished the wreath by adding a decorative bird and some additional seasonal greenery.
